How do you do it so cheap ?
By automating the whole process. We can register up to 28,000 domain names each day using our custom registration engine. Any exceptions are handled manually, reducing our overheads. That means we can keep costs to a minimum, and pass those savings onto you.

Whats the catch ?
There isn't one. No hidden costs, no exhorbitant renewal fees, no transfer fees, no licence issues (you own the licence). You are free to transfer the name to another ISP at no charge. The only thing we ask is that you use us!. Oh, and please, only email support. This reduces our overheads and allows us to offer you domain names at the best price.

How do I register a domain name?
Enter the domain you want to reserve from the front page, or from right here.

Search for domain name:

We'll present you with the availability of the name in the Nominet (UK), Nomination (UK) and Internic (US) databases. Simply choose the ones you want, enter your details and voila, the name is registered.

How do I pay for a domain name?
We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Solo) but not American Express. All our payments are processed using SSL via WorldPay, our payment partner.

Can I open a credit account with quidnames ?
No. We only offer payment in advance services. We can accept cheques for payment, however these must be cleared before the name can be registered. For cheque services, email payment.queries@quidnames.com with a subject of "CHEQUE ORDER". You will receive details on how to process the registration.

When I register a name, I see I have been given an account. Can I use this for credit?
No. The account is there to enable you to easily manage your domains. When you register your first domain, you will be given an account. After this, use the same account to manage all your domains.

I've registered my domain name, but still see it as available. What is wrong?
Once you receive a confirmation email from us saying that your domain name has been reserved, it is. Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for the registrar's database to be updated.

I've registered my domain name, but redirection isn't working. What is wrong?
It can take up to 72 hours for a domain name to be updated on the DNS you are using, and sometimes longer. If after this time your redirection is still not working, please check your domain details through your account page, to see whether redirection is on. If you see our standard banner page when typing in your URL(remember to include the www), then redirection is disabled. If this happens, and you have purchased redirection, please contact support

I've paid for my domain name, but it has been registered by someone else in the meantime. What can I do ?
Names are registered on a first come, first served basis. When you choose your domain name, it may appear as available in the database when in fact it is not. If this occurs, you will be reimbursed 100% of the charges. Simply send an email to support@quidnames.com and we will refund all costs.
If you have a dispute you wish to raise, please contact us immediately. Remember that each registrar has a disputes procedure which must be followed. Details of our procedures & policies can be found here.

What is Quidnames.com's Refund Policy?
We will refund 100% of the charges if you contact us to cancel an order before a domain has been registered with the controlling registrar. Once a domain is registered, we follow standard procedures & policies laid down by Nominet and ICANN with regards to refunds (see our policy here). Otherwise, all refunds are at the discretion of management.

How do I transfer a domain name to my ISP?
If you registered the name with us, you will have entered a password, which enables you to modify your domain settings.
Before you transfer a name, you must get the IPSTAGS of the ISP who is receiving the transfer (in the case of a .co.uk domain name) or the primary and secondary nameserver names and IP addresses in the case of a uk.com or .com domain name.
Choose the Manage Account option and enter your email address and your password. Select the domain you wish to transfer and carefully follow the procedure defined. You will be asked to enter the details provided by your ISP. Enter these carefully and then click Submit. The transfer will then be processed.
If you are unsure at any time about the transfer process, please do not use the Transfer Domain function but send us an email with the domain and your ISP details at transfers@quidnames.com. We will process the transfer for you at no cost. An email template is provided on the Transfer Domain page. Please allow 48-72 hours for us to process your transfer request.

How do I transfer a domain name to my own DNS Server?
Choose the Manage Account option and update the DNS details for the domain you wish to move. We will continue to hold your name on your behalf. You may, if you wish, elect to be billed directly by Nominet or Network Solutions. Current prices are £80+VAT for Nominet and US$70 per year with Network Solutions. To move to direct billing, send an email to direct.billing@quidnames.com with the domain name as the subject and our system will contact the administration contact for the domain name.

How do I change any of my details ?
Choose the Manage Account Option and enter your account details. Then choose the account modification option. This will update ALL your domains with your new details.

How do I add redirection or upgrade a domain?
Choose the Manage Account Option and edit the domain you wish to upgrade. You will then be asked to make payment. Once payment is complete, your new services will be online.
We recommend that you choose redirection services when you first register the domain. This is also cheaper for you, as we charge a single bundle price for redirection for all the domain names you choose to buy at once. If you upgrade later, you will pay the redirection fee for each domain separately.

Can I remove redirection and get a refund on the fee?
You can remove redirection at any time, but we can't give refunds. The charge is mostly setup fees. If you choose to subsequently add redirection to a domain which you have removed redirection from previously, you will need to pay the redirection fee again.

Can Quidnames provide web hosting?
At present, we provide only a domain name registration and redirection service. We will be launching QuidHosts.Com soon which will provide you with all your web hosting and POP mail needs.

How do I get support?
Support is by email only. Send any queries or problems to support@quidnames.com and we will contact you as soon as possible with an answer. Please provide a contact telephone number in your email so we can contact you by phone if necessary.

Why can't quidnames be contacted by telephone?
Our system approaches 100% automation. This allows us to reduce overheads, especially human beings which are the costliest part of running our business. Calling us makes our costs rise. Send us an email with your request, including your telephone number, and we will call you if it is absolutely necessary.
